Ground covers can beautifully enhance any garden.
Large unplanted areas of soil and even small hard-to-grow areas can benefit from planting ground covers.
Wayne of Garden Design tells us some of the benefits of planting ground covers include:-
They retain moisture in the soil;
Prevent soil erosion;
They are attractive.
Always plant your ground covers in large swathes, rather than as singles. They will, with sufficient water in their first season, grow and cover that ground beautifully.
Always consider the position of your ground covers. Don't try and plant Peace-in-the-Home in a sunny, dry position when it wants shaded, moist soil. Try and find an alternative which will suit the position you want to cover.Prepare your soil well by adding lots of compost and water well.
These are some of the beautiful ground covers Wayne suggests.
