Replacing a precast wall with a brick wall: Do I need plans? PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 01 November 2012

This reader wants to replace their precast wall with a brick wall:

We have a precast wall currently in front of our property and would like to replace this with a bricked and plastered wall. I would like to know what are the requirements. Do we require plans to do so? What is the highest we could build without plans?

Les has responded as follows:

For a front boundary wall, any changes to the wall will require approved plans. The height of the wall will depend on the local Zoning and Town Planning conditions as these differ between municipalities and even between suburbs. I would advise that you contact your local building department to find out which regulations apply to your area.

I hope that you find this helpful.
