Buying an old house and revamping it can be fun, you also learn lots of tricks.  One of the things I found out was that an electric sander or plain old sanding block just doesn't do the job all the time, especially in those hard to reach grooves, places and spaces.

Here is one neat tip that works well.

Skirting boards - why do they have grooves?!? Well mine do, so what I did was take a deck of playing cards.  I wrapped the piece of sanding paper around them and used that as a "sanding block".  It also worked a charm on the old table I was doing up.  Because the cards move - they take on the shape of whatever it is you are sanding.
