Painting Tip No. 1 PDF Print E-mail

Painting and patience do not usually go together, particularly for the DIY enthusiast and there are a couple of problems that may develop when one is too hasty.

If you have just had a room built on and are looking at painting it yourself, give the new plasterwork at least three weeks to cure properly (turn a consistent light grey) before painting. This will pre-empt all sorts of difficulties later, regardless of the paint that you use. Allow your undercoat at least three days to dry and cure before applying your topcoats. This is where the patience part comes in and you would do well to delay the furniture move and get the painting done properly first.
