Intelligent Home: Wires lose out as central wireless controls manage home heating PDF Print E-mail

Electric wires – and the harmful cancer-causing electro-magnetic rays they issue – have lost their place in heating as wireless control takes central place in home underfloor heating.

Major Danish heating company, Danfoss, the world’s biggest underfloor heating manufacturer in the world, has launched Danfoss LINK, a panel located centrally in the house that regulates the heat in each room separately.

The wireless system is easy to install as the installers do not have to lay any cables.

A central “brain” controls the underfloor heating throughout the house, ensuring that every room is as comfortable as needed – and those rooms not used don’t have any wasteful heating on.

Previously, intelligent heating control was synonymous with independent thermostats that had to be separately programmed to suit the needs of individual rooms. But with Danfoss LINK, all the rooms in a home, office or guest house can be controlled from a central location using a touch screen.

Easy to install and use

The multi-lingual intelligent system communicates wirelessly with the individual rooms in the house.

The easy wireless installation also has a control panel that gives intuitive instructions that guide the installer safely through every step of the installation process.

The control panel also has an integrated help function that sets the homeowner on the right track if he or she encounters problems. Temperatures are set quickly and easily using the touch screen, which is designed along minimalist clean lines, and without a mass of confusing buttons.

The heating system consists of the Danfoss LINK CC control panel and a variable number of floor thermostats called Danfoss LINK FT. It can be extended by the addition of room sensors so that the temperature can be appropriately regulated. With the room sensors you can easily read and regulate the actual temperature in a room.

A heating system of the future

The environmentally conscious company has ensured that the new Danfoss LINK heating control system has the value-added advantage of saving energy. The response time of Danfoss LINK is immediate, and this means that the temperature can easily be regulated throughout the day. This avoids superfluous use of heating during the night, for instance, or when the family is not at home, or if there is an unexpected spell of warm weather.

Danfoss LINK has been carefully thought through at all levels and fits perfectly into the intelligent home of the future. The system is based on a scalable platform so that users can start with their present needs and extend it as things develop.
